Ever resistant to the first person singular, and given (with the greatest of irony) to Victoria's royal "we", Pomelo Press is nevertheless the brain child of only one person: Elyse Tamara. She is a one man band.
Elyse has been involved in the Visual Arts her entire life. She has extensive experience in a wide range of disciplines: Animation, both Cel and Computer; Graphic Design; Illustration; Fine Art.
This is a self-portrait, the glamorous version.
Bottom line: If she can make herself look good, she can make anybody look good. Trust her on this one.
And check out the other esteemed characters in the Pomelo Press repertoire. Fabulous creatures, one and all.
Elyse has been around the corner. Quite a few times, if the truth were known.
In kind of sequential order:
Early animation stints at the National Film Board of Canada, and Potterton Productions, in Montreal. Freelance illustration in the halcyon days of Los Angeles Rock and Roll.
Art Director and animator at Magi Synthavision, one of the esteemed Grandaddies of 3-D Computer Animation (no GUI's then…everything was hand-coded!).
Animation showcased at Siggraph.
Adjunct Professor of Computer Graphics at Pratt Institute and the New School, NYC.
Painter represented by Peyton Wright Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. Group shows at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art.
This is another self-portrait…this time the real one.
